Times are changing and, as music technology evolves, even the most traditional of instruments stands to benefit from new developments in order to achieve a bigger and better sound. A first in Luxembourg, the church of Walferdange is proud to present its new “fusion organ”, seamlessly blending tradition and technology in order to provide a more complete, versatile and modern instrument.
The organ was enhanced as part of the recent renovations to the historic Walferdange church, employing the latest computer technology whilst retaining all the pipes from the organ installed in 1968. The instrument is now able to offer the parish and the Chorale Ste. Cecile a richer, more expansive sound. Its new avant-garde three-manual console and sequencer, plus additional digital stops, enable the organ to achieve its full potential in a cost-effective manner.
This specialist project was carried out under the auspices of Fabrique de l’Eglise de Walferdange and the Commune of Walferdange, and the services of organ makers Johannus from Ede in Holland, Pianos Kelly, Niederanven, representing Johannus in Luxembourg, as well as the pipe organ builder Thomas Erz.
